Stocks Hill
Earliest engraving showing an 8ft high pillar, which was erected to commemorate those who had died during the Great Plague of 1644 - 1645.
The Plague saw one fifth of the population of Leeds dying in six months. During this destructive time the Leeds Market was held in Bramley.
Georgian House
This was a lovely old house, which was still inhabited at the time this picture was taken – thought to be 1930’s - 40's.
Stocks Hill
Another view of Stocks Hill, and the original cobbled road of Bramley Town Street. The sign for the 'Old Unicorn Inn' is visible on the right.
A side view of the Georgian House featured in the photograph above can be seen on the left.
The Village Pump
With its ferocious looking Lions face and gaping mouth, from which the water would gush following vigorous pumping of the metal arm on the right-hand side.
